Our award-winning Woodhaven Business Improvement District on Woodhaven’s Jamaica Avenue from Dexter Court to 100th Street was busy with people shopping in our stores that were filled with bargains. Our “Everything Avenue” was hopping and moving with activity. The shoppers finding “everything” they need right here on Woodhaven’s Jamaica Avenue, where “We’re Taking Care of Bidness.”
Many great savings were made, beginning this past Saturday. The WBID-sponsored Back to School Sales Days activities on our “Everything Avenue” were happy and enjoyable. The children were smiling with little faces painted with kitty cat whiskers and pink rabbit noses. They could be spotted walking our Woodhaven’s Jamaica Avenue with balloons and waving small American flags, with their WBID shopping bags full of free goodies.
Also all along the avenue, our WBID reps were distributing quarters to parking cars, thanking them for shopping our Woodhaven’s Jamaica Avenue. In our Forest Parkway Plaza area, there was dancing and rocking to the great music of Plastic Soul. The songs were from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and so many rock and roll songs that you couldn’t help but move. The old and young alike tapped their feet to this talented group.
It was a truly fun shopping day with something for everyone. These free events all courtesy of your storeowners and business owners that care enough to contribute to the WBID that make these enjoyable free activities possible. So continue to shop, shop, shop our Everything Avenue. Only in Woodhaven.
Important Information: The GWDC Office is again offering low-cost home improvement loans. These loans at 2 and 5 percent are available for one to four-family homes. Please call our office at (718) 805-0202 to find out if you qualify and for more information.
To be noted: As with the Congress and Senate and Assembly districts that were redrawn this year, the City Council Districts will be changed; this all due to the U.S. Census. At this time, Woodhaven is covered by two council members, Honorable Elizabeth Crowley and Honorable Eric Ulrich.
Although they are excellent caring representatives, there is often confusion as to the areas of Woodhaven that they cover. It is the thinking that it would be better for Woodhaven to have only one council member representing all of Woodhaven. Although in having two council persons we have two voices and two votes for Woodhaven causes.
Hearings were held in regard to redrawing the lines of the City Council, but you can still submit written testimony to state your position. What do you think?
Remember the “Jewel of Forest Park” our Forest Park Carousel is now open every day from 11 a.m. until sunset with free clown/magic shows every Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
