RIDGEWOOD, N.Y., August 2, 2013 – Ridgewood Savings Bank recently presented awards to the local winners of its “Lights, Camera, Save!” video contest for teens aged 13-18.  The video contest was designed to inspire teenagers to learn about the value of saving and motivate their peers to become life-long savers.

The winning school was The High School for Arts & Business, located at 105-25 Horace Harding Expressway in Corona, Queens. The school received a grant for $1,000 at a ceremony held at the Ridgewood Savings Bank Main Office (71-02 Forest Avenue).

Ana Zambrano-Burakov, principal of The High School for Arts & Business, attended the ceremony and commented, “We are very grateful to Ridgewood Savings Bank for providing this grant to our school and for the opportunity to participate in this excellent program. This contest gave our students a platform for thinking about important financial matters in an engaging and creative fashion—a very valuable learning experience.”

“We congratulate the winners and all contestants for showcasing the important message of this contest—which is ‘start young, save more,’” said Walter Reese. “As a community-focused bank, we are dedicated to teaching young people that saving is instrumental in achieving financial security.”

The “Lights, Camera, Save!” video contest is part of the American Bankers Association Education Foundation’s National Teach Children to Save Program.
