Sponsored by the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation, the event will feature entertainment, rides and games, antique cars and a variety of vendors with unique products.
This year's special feature will be The Malaysian Lion Dancers, famous for their performance during the Chinese New Year's celebrations.
Maria Thomson, executive director of the GWDC, said she was excited for the upcoming festival and hoping for good weather.
When asked when the planning began for this festival, Thomson laughed and said, “We started planning the day after the previous street fair.”
Thomson understands how important this event is to the community. She said that the festival shows people from all over New York that the Woodhaven community has great people, nice homes and interesting businesses.
“That one day can define our community,” she said. “The vendors and everyone that comes here, they're here for one day but we're here all year round.”
This year's festival will have a country-and-western theme, which Thomson is excited about. With an award ceremony and elected officials making statements, she said she's looking forward to putting cowboy hats on the dignitaries attending the event.
Thomson is confident that every member of the family will enjoy the festival. “We have everything here,” she said.
