Now in its third year, Forest Park will be hosting a 5K run this Sunday, Oct. 21, and you can bring the kids. Before the race, which kicks off at 10 a.m., there will also be Children's Field Day at 9 a.m.

This run begins and ends at Victory Track and Field in Forest Park. Parking at the Bandshell is free. Runners will pay $14 for early registration, which ends on Friday, October 19, and $20 for late registration. All the proceeds will go to Forest Park to provide events like free concerts and karate lessons.

Last year, the turnout for the race was 250 people and she hopes that this year will be better.

The race will be professionally scored by Forest Park Runners, a 32-year-old running club. Participants will receive a t-shirt and trophies will be given out to the top three finishers in various categories and age groups.

Last year's winners were Tom Kenyon, with a time of 16:03, and Rachel Friedman, who crossed the finish line with a time of 19:13.
